Strawberry picking is just around the corner and this would be a tasty snack for all those tasty strawberries:
- 8 oz (half pkg) strawberries, or about 2 cups
- 1 Tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 Tbsp sugar
- 1/4 cup red wine
Place balsamic vinegar, sugar, and wine into a saucepan. Heat until boiling, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and pour into a glass bowl. While balsamic syrup is cooling, wash and cut strawberries in slices or quarters. Add strawberries to syrup and stir to coat. Let marinate for 15 minutes. Do not let sit longer than 30 minutes or strawberries won’t be as crisp as you might like.
